AMALIFE Beach Club & Hotel sits on Tierra Bomba island and positions itself as much as an experience and events destination as a place to stay. The day pass is the calm version of an island day: a quiet, good-looking setting rather than a party beach.

Your pass covers the boat there and back, a welcome cocktail — with or without alcohol, your choice — and an à la carte lunch with a non-alcoholic drink. Beyond that you have the run of the property: the pool, sun beds, showers and full access to the facilities, plus games and activities through the day.

Boats leave from the Bocagrande beach behind the hospital at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30, and run back at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30, so you can shape the day long or short.

Return: boats run back at 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

Pets: AMALIFE is pet friendly and small pets are allowed.

Children: ages 5 to 10 pay the child rate. Ages 2 to 4 enter against consumption rather than a day pass — tell us at booking so we can arrange it with the club.

Morning · Bocagrande beach, behind the hospital

Meet at the Bocagrande beach behind the hospital for your chosen pick-up: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 or 12:30. From there it is a short boat run across to Tierra Bomba island. Round-trip transport is part of the pass, so the same boat brings you back.

Arrival at AMALIFE

A welcome cocktail on arrival — with or without alcohol, whichever you prefer, and a juice for children. After that the property is open to you: the pool, sun beds, showers and full access to the facilities. There are games and activities on through the day if you want them. AMALIFE is pet friendly, so small dogs are a normal sight here.

Lunch, then the afternoon boat back

Lunch is à la carte with a non-alcoholic drink included, so you order from the menu rather than eating a fixed plate. Afterwards there is time by the pool or on the sand before the return boat, which runs at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 PM depending on the slot you booked.

AMALIFE suits people who want the island day to be restful. The club describes its setting as tranquil, and the pass is built for lingering rather than for a schedule — four pick-up times and four return times mean you can take a short afternoon or a full day.

Lunch is à la carte rather than a set plate, so you order what you actually want. The pool matters if you are travelling with children or would rather not be in the sea all day, and showers on site mean you go back to Cartagena clean.

It is also one of the few clubs on the list that will let you bring a small dog.
