Aura Hotel Barú Day Pass

A day on Ensenada del Cholón — by boat or by road, with pool, beach beds and lunch

Day Pass – Aura Hotel

COP $0 COP $470,000Price range: COP $0 through COP $470,000

Aura Hotel Barú sits on the calm water of Ensenada del Cholón on Isla Barú, an intimate beachfront property rather than a large club. The day pass gives you the hotel’s beach and pool for the day, with lunch and a welcome cocktail included.

You choose how you get there. The Normal pass crosses by shared sport boat and takes in a panoramic run past Fuerte de Bocachica on the way. The VIP pass travels by shared land transport instead — the same day on the island, reached by road rather than by sea. Both are return journeys.

Once you arrive the day is unstructured: a beach bed or sun lounger, the freshwater pool, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling masks and a ping pong table, wifi across the property, freshwater showers and towel service. Lunch is a main course chosen from seven options with a soft drink. The return leaves at 3:00 PM.

Arriving on your own boat instead? Choose the cover-charge option below.

Two ways to travel. The VIP pass goes by shared land transport. The Normal pass goes by shared sport boat and includes a panoramic pass by Fuerte de Bocachica. Check which one you have booked before you set out.

Meeting point (boat): Muelle de la Bodeguita, Gate #3. This can change with prior notice, so check your confirmation on the day.

Meeting time: 8:00 AM. Departure is at approximately 8:30 AM.

Return: 3:00 PM, subject to weather conditions.

Paid on the day, not included in the ticket: departure tax $31,500 COP, cash only, and a compulsory medical assistance and accident policy of $8,800 COP.

Beach beds and sun loungers are subject to availability.

Tour Highlights

8:00 AM · Meeting point

By boat (Normal pass): check in at Muelle de la Bodeguita, Gate #3, at 8:00 AM. The gate can change with prior notice. The shared sport boat leaves at around 8:30 AM and runs down past Fuerte de Bocachica for a panoramic look at the fort before continuing to Barú.

By road (VIP pass): shared land transport, leaving at the same time and arriving at the same property. The VIP route does not pass Bocachica, since it does not go by sea.

A welcome cocktail on arrival, then the day is yours. Take a beach bed or a sun lounger at the water, subject to availability, or use the pool. Kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling masks and a ping pong table are all included, and wifi runs across the property. There are freshwater showers and towel service, so you do not need to bring your own.

Lunch, then the 3:00 PM return

Lunch is a main course chosen from seven options, with a non-alcoholic drink included. Afterwards there is time on the beach or in the pool before the 3:00 PM return to Cartagena — by boat or by road, depending on the pass you booked. Return times can shift with the weather.

Aura is a hotel rather than a beach club, and it shows in what is included: a pool as well as a beach, towels and freshwater showers, wifi across the property, and a lunch chosen from seven mains rather than a fixed plate. It suits people who want somewhere to spend the whole day comfortably rather than a boat tour with short stops.

Ensenada del Cholón is sheltered water, which makes it a reasonable choice for families — there is a child rate for ages 4 to 9 — and for anyone who would rather not spend the day in open sea conditions.

The choice of routes is unusual. If boats do not agree with you, the VIP pass gets you to the same beach by road. If you would rather be on the water, the Normal pass crosses by sport boat and passes Fuerte de Bocachica on the way, and costs less.
