San Pedro de Majagua Day Pass

A day on Isla Grande in the Rosario Islands — shared boat from Cartagena, towel and lounger, and lunch on the beach

Day Pass – Majagua

COP $265,000 COP $590,000Price range: COP $265,000 through COP $590,000

San Pedro de Majagua sits on Isla Grande in the Rosario Islands, reached by shared boat from Cartagena. The day pass buys you the beach, a lounger and a towel for the day, and a sit-down lunch — the whole thing runs on the hotel’s own single daily schedule rather than a boat tour timetable.

You check in at Muelle de la Bodeguita, Gate #3, at 8:00 AM so there is time for the boarding formalities before the boat leaves at 8:30 AM. On arrival there is a welcome cocktail and a cold refreshing towel. After that the day is yours: the beach, your sun lounger, and lunch when you want it. The boat back to Cartagena normally leaves the hotel at 3:00 PM.

Two plans are available. The standard plan comes with a whole fried or grilled mojarra as the main course, with several swaps available. The VIP plan replaces it with a mixed seafood grill and adds a 60-minute shared canoe trip through the mangroves.

An optional shared boat to the Oceanario (Isla San Martín de Pajarales) leaves at 11:30 AM. The transfer is arranged by the hotel; the Oceanario entry ticket is not included and costs extra.

Meeting point: Muelle de la Bodeguita, Gate #3. Check in at 8:00 AM — the boarding registration takes time and the boat leaves at 8:30 AM. This is the only departure the hotel runs.

Return: the boat normally leaves San Pedro de Majagua at 3:00 PM, but can be brought forward to around 2:30 PM depending on the weather. The Cartagena Port Authority passes any change to the boat pilots on the day itself, and the hotel’s administrator and sales team pass it on to you.

Not included in the ticket price: port taxes (zarpe, national park and boat insurance), estimated at $38,000 COP per person for 2026. This is an estimate and is subject to change; taxes in force under Colombian law are charged and can change without notice.

Oceanario: an optional shared boat to the Oceanario at Isla San Martín de Pajarales leaves at 11:30 AM, on a schedule set by the hotel. The transfer is included; the Oceanario entry ticket is not and is paid separately.

Transport is on a shared, non-exclusive boat.

Tour Highlights

8:00 AM · Muelle de la Bodeguita, Gate #3

Check in at Gate #3 half an hour before departure so there is time to complete the boarding registration. The boat leaves at 8:30 AM — a shared, non-exclusive service on the hotel’s single daily schedule — and crosses from Cartagena to San Pedro de Majagua in the Rosario Islands.

Arrival · San Pedro de Majagua

A welcome cocktail and a cold refreshing towel on arrival, then a towel for the day — one per person — and a sun lounger on the beach. From there the day is unstructured. If you want to add the Oceanario, the hotel’s shared boat to Isla San Martín de Pajarales leaves at 11:30 AM; the transfer is part of your day pass, the entry ticket is paid separately.

On the VIP plan there is also a shared canoe trip through the mangroves, lasting about an hour.

Lunch, then the 3:00 PM boat back

Lunch opens with green plantain chips served with suero or hogao criollo. On the standard plan the main course is a whole mojarra, fried or grilled, with coconut rice, patacones and green salad — swap it for fish fillet, beef, grilled chicken breast, or vegetable rice or pasta if you prefer. On the VIP plan it is a mixed seafood grill instead: fish fillet, shrimp, squid, octopus, king prawns and mussels, with the same sides.

A drink comes with the meal — water, a soft drink, seasonal fruit juice, fresh lemonade or a national beer — followed by a typical Cartagena sweet, corozo, papaya or coconut, and Colombian coffee or tea.

The boat back to Cartagena normally leaves at 3:00 PM, and can be moved to around 2:30 PM if the weather calls for it.

  • Tips and personal expenses

San Pedro de Majagua is a hotel rather than a party beach club, and the day pass reads that way: a towel and a lounger that are yours for the day, a proper lunch with a starter, dessert and coffee, and no obligation to do anything else.

The two plans differ in one clear place. The standard plan gives you a whole mojarra, cooked the way the coast cooks it, with the option to swap to meat, chicken or a vegetarian plate. The VIP plan swaps that for a mixed seafood grill and adds an hour in a canoe through the mangroves, which is the only guided activity on offer.

The single 8:30 AM departure means the whole island runs on one rhythm, and the optional 11:30 AM boat to the Oceanario makes it easy to add an aquarium visit without booking a separate tour. Children aged 3 to 8 have their own rate and their own menu.
